Andy Seuss Had Two Good Runs Come Short at Finish
18-Year-Old Has Bad Luck at Seekonk and Star
Andy Seuss showed plenty of potential this past week in Modified events at Seekonk Speedway (MA) and Star Speedway (NH), but unfortunately he couldn’t shake the monkey that’s been on his back.

That darn monkey seemed to be pretty busy playing with Seuss’ tires and driving a few of the cars that Seuss were competing against in fact.
Seuss entered the star-studded $10,000-to-win Modified Madness race at Seekonk Speedway on Wednesday.  He started out struggling in practice, but the One Stop Toy Shop/Rockingham Boat team did not give up.  They were rewarded for their efforts with a much faster racecar.

“I thought that our car was junk in practice, but the team worked on it and it got really good,” said Seuss.  “I was working so well that on 50-lap tires, I was passing guys with stickers on.”

Next up was Seuss’ heat race.  The newly found speed helped the team make the most of a bad draw for that event.

“We started dead last in our heat race and moved up from there.  We got up to the outside of Ted Christopher, but the car got too tight.  We couldn’t do anything with him then, so we just settled in.”

Seuss started 10th in the feature race and moved up steadily from there – until his tires were a problem.

“The car was right up there in the race then it starting pushing.  The right front was losing air and then it went down.  We changed it under green and then must have ran over something leaving the pits and cut a right front tire.  We had to come back in to change that and we lost a lot of ground.
Seuss finished 16th after his problems, but knows that he could have had a much better results if not for his problems.

“If we didn’t have tire issues, I think that we definitely had a top 10 finish ahead of us.  Maybe it would have been a top five.  We had a shot at that, but I don’t know for sure.  Our tire problems came around halfway and we’ll never know what we could have done.”

On Saturday night, Seuss survived a tough night
of racing at Star Speedway to finish in the top 10 of the True Value Modified Racing Series event there.  Seuss got bounced around by Jack Bateman in that event, which dropped him back in the back.  He recovered to finish 10th.

Next up for Seuss and his #70 team is the True Value Modified Racing Series event at Monadnock Speedway (NH) on Saturday night, July 30th.
