Andy Seuss Salvages 10th From Rough Star Race
18-Year-Old Gets Spun Twice In Final Ten Laps, But Comes Back for Top 10
With two spins and a flat tire in the final 10 laps of the One Stop Toy Shop 100 at Star Speedway (NH), a 10th-place finish for Andy Seuss and his #70 team really shouldn’t be disappointing.

Then again, considering where they were running on lap 90 of the True Value Modified Racing Series event, the end result of the night could have been much better.

“It’s getting old,” said Seuss.  “We have a really fast car and this is frustrating.  We had a cut tire with nine laps to go.  It’s too bad because when the tire got cut, we were under a car to take fifth.  We have to really look at the way that we race with certain people.”

Ironically, after changing a tire Seuss came back on the track and just a few laps later got caught in the aftermath of a spin that resulted when the same driver who made contact with him tried to same thing to another driver and spun himself out.

Seuss was one of two drivers who hit debris from the incident and spun.  This time, there were five laps to go and Seuss came back to 10th at the line.

The race started with Seuss on the outside pole after he won his qualifying race.

The #70 of Seuss dropped back in the middle stages of the race, but was strong after halfway.

“The car started giving up a little bit earlier, I backed down a little bit and got freight-trained and hung on the outside.  But we came back and we gunning for a top five.

“It’s unfortunate, we don’t want to settle for these top ten finishes.  We want top fives, we want thirds and seconds.  We want to catch Kirk Alexander [who has won 9 of the 12 True Value Modified Racing Series events in 2005] and win some of these races.”

Alexander won the race and was followed to the finish by Dwight Jarvis and Peter Daniels.
