Andy Leads Most Laps, Finishes Third at Canaan
Young Driver is Happy With a Podium Finish
Tour officials told teams in the driver’s meeting that the race would be flagged as complete if and when it rained. So Andy Seuss and his #70 Rockingham Boat/Manchester Urology team set their car up to be a rocket early in the race. It worked in one respect, as Seuss led the first 68 laps, but when the race ran its entire distance, Seuss ended up with a third-place finish. He was passed for second-place on the final lap.
“The race was good,” said Seuss. “We definitely came out with a top three finish at a track that has not been too kind to us. We are happy with that. We were not good at the beginning of the day.
“It was a very strong car at the beginning, but I had to use it up protecting the lead. I probably should have played it
smarter and faded it back. But with the threat of rain and the curfew issue that they spoke about I did what I had to. They had said the race could have been two laps long and they would have called it a finish so I wanted to lead as long as I could. I hoped I could have led to the end. I had a lot of heavy pressure in the beginning. When Jack [Bateman] came along I really had to push it. Overall, we are very happy. We have a car in one piece so we will take it to the next race.”
Seuss will race his Modified this weekend in Modified Mania at Thompson International Speedway.
