Andy Toughs It Out At Lee
19-Year-Old Still Brings Home Top-15 Finish
It took two months to run Tuesday night’s 100-lap True Value Modified Racing Series event at Lee USA Speedway.  The doubleheader with the ACT Late Model Tour had been scheduled for May, but then rained
out after most of the heat races were completed.

It only took 16 laps of the feature though for Andy Seuss and
his #70 Rockingham Boat/Manchester Urology Associates
Modified team to have their race go south.  Just like Tony
Stewart did in the Modified Tour race this weekend at New
Hampshire, Seuss got his racecar airborne.  However,
Stewart’s trip into the air measured mere inches, while
Seuss’ was measured in feet after he was one of 11 cars
involved in an early wreck.

“Tony Stewart kept going and I didn’t,” said Seuss.  “ I got
stuck on top of Sean Bodreau.  I don’t really know what
happened.  All of a sudden, I was clear and then I got turned.
I was squaring my bumper up to him and then I got turned again
and went right up on top of him.  It was a little bit scary there because I didn’t know if he was okay.  I’m glad to see that nobody got hurt.”

The #70 Modified was perched on top of Bodreau’s car for several minutes, which made things interesting for Seuss.

“It was like sitting on 50 degrees of banking.  They were afraid that the car would tip over if I just got out of the window.”

The Seuss team was able to repair front end damage and replace the radiator in less than 20 laps.  The car was just as quick as the leaders when it returned to the track and Seuss ended up with a 15th-place finish.

“It’s a shame for this team,” said Seuss.  “The car was just excellent.  We had no nose, bent tie-rods, I don’t know where the toe was at and the spindles were bent but we still

Damage to the car.

probably passed more cars than anybody.  I hate it for my guys, they did an excellent job.  They changed the radiator and one tie-rod end.  The other one was bent too, but it was close enough.”

Next up for Seuss will be the Modified Madness open show at Seekonk Speedway (MA) on Wednesday, July 26th.  The race is expected to draw several high profile entries and with Seuss as the latest Modified winner at the track, with a victory coming in October’s DAV Memorial, he likes his chances for success.

“I’m going home,” said Seuss.  “I love that place.  It just
seems to fit my driving style.  I always ran well there and
then we figured something out and I really ran well in that
race last year.  I’m excited about running with those guys
who are coming to that race – Jimmy Blewett, Teddy
Christopher, Donny Lia and Chuck Hossfeld just to name
a few.  I look up to and admire them.  Don’t tell anyone,
but I’m kind of a fan of all of those guys too.”

Of course, Seuss said that with a wink.  He might look up
to those more experienced racers, but just like his did
when he won the Florida Speedweeks championship at
New Smyrna Speedway earlier this year, he’s ready to try his best to beat them on the track.

Modified Madness is set for Wednesday, July 26th.  The racing action is set to begin at 7pm.
