Andy Seuss Has Promising Run Go South at Shootout
19-Year-Old Is Fast, But Luckless, in North-South Shootout
Entering the North-South Shootout at Concord Motorsport Park, Andy Seuss had high hopes for his #70 Rockingham Boat team. After his car was quickest in opening practice, his hopes shot up even further. They were derailed slightly when Seuss spun on his first qualifying lap, but his hopes rebounded when he still was able to qualify ninth out of the nearly 50 cars in attendance.
But the race itself would be a frustrating one, as Seuss would get involved in a wreck that started out between Bobby Santos, III and Ronnie Silk just 17 laps into the race.
“We got shuffled back early,” said Seuss. “Some people weren’t using their heads out there. I thought that I was safe where I was, but we got put into a bad position. I saw the trouble and thought that I had it slowed up, but I just got into the marbles and it got sideways. We broke a rear trailing arm bracket.
“Unfortunately, that’s part of the deal and part of racing. We had a fast car and I think this was definitely a time that I could honestly say that I had a shot at the win. We proved that all weekend long.”
Seuss ended up finishing 25th, after returning to the race several laps down.
Next up for Seuss will be the Mason-Dixon Meltdown on November 24th-25th at South Boston Speedway (VA).
“We’ll head to South Boston,” said Seuss. “The guys did an awesome job here. Now we’ll keep our heads up and take a few weeks to regroup. We’ll be well prepared for the Mason-Dixon Meltdown and take it from there.”
