Andy Ready to Change His Fate at Canaan Fair
19-Year-Old Has Run Well at The Track, But Has Been Bit By Bad Luck
Some horses can’t be ridden, some dogs can’t be trained and some racetracks can’t be tamed. So far, that last statement has rung true for Andy Seuss and his One Stop Toy Shop/Rockingham Boat team when it comes to racing at Canaan Fair Speedway.
But the 19-year-old racer isn’t giving up when it comes to getting a good finish at the rural New Hampshire track. He’ll be back there this Saturday night for the second True Value Modified Racing Series race of 2006. He’s gunning to put his bad luck at the track behind him.
“Canaan has never been all that nice to us,” said Seuss. “We’ve run well there, we’ve won heat races there and led laps there. We’ve done all but finished well there. Last year, we had the start of some engine problems there. I like that track, but it has always bit us.”
Then again, Seuss has some new, well actually new-school, horsepower under his hood this time around.
“It’s definitely a motor track and that’s different than most of the tracks on the True Value Modified Racing Series schedule. But we’ve got our Nu-Skool engine built by Joey Caraccia and it’s a real good powerplant. That part will definitely be there, so we’re pretty excited about going there with that.”
In the last TVMRS event, three weeks ago at Monadnock Speedway, Seuss finished second to two-time defending champion Kirk Alexander. That has just made his team work harder.
“We’re still trying some different stuff trying to chase down Kirk Alexander,” said Seuss. “But at Canaan, we’re just shooting for a good finish. If we finish in the top five that’s what we’re asking for and who knows, we might even have a shot at the win.”
The Chappy’s Concessions 100 TVMRS event at Canaan takes place on Saturday, May 5th with a post time of 6pm.
