Andy Seuss Looks Forward to First TVMRS Race in “Mod Country”
19-Year-Old Knows That Waterford Fans are Crazy About Their Modifieds
The True Value Modified Racing Series takes a big step on June 17th when the young tour crosses into Connecticut for the first time.  Andy Seuss and the #70 Rockingham Boat team will be among the competitors on hand at Waterford Speedbowl for the first TVMRS race ever there.  The 19-year-old has competed up and down the East Coast in Modified open shows during his down time from the series and now he is really looking forward to racing in the heart of Modified Country.

“Modified racing is very big in Connecticut,” said Seuss.  “The fan following is probably as big there as anywhere in the country.  Waterford Speedbowl is a great place for the Modifieds.  The SK Modifieds run there weekly and there are a lot of times that the NASCAR Modified Tour has been there.  That means that a lot of famous drivers have put on a lot of famous races there.”

“It’s just another big step for the True Value Modified Racing Series to go there.  It’s a great opportunity and it’s good of the Waterford Speedbowl and their staff to give us that.  We’ll hopefully put on a good show for all of the fans and showcase what we do.  We hope to show Connecticut what heat races with Modifieds is all about.”

Seuss is already familiar with Waterford as a fan and he’s liked what he has seen there in the past.

“I went to a Busch North race there and I went to the 150-lap SK Modified race there earlier this year.  There’s a lot of side-by-side racing there.  It’s definitely a physical track.  That’s evident in the way that the SK Modifieds run.  It’s also evident in the style that some of the SK Modified drivers have when they come and race with us.  It’s pinch racing and if you have a nose on somebody, you need to move them around.  I’ve had a lot of fun driving with people who have come out of SKs like Ed Dachenhausen.  He’s a very hard-nosed, tough racer and you have to earn every inch on him.  It’s going to be neat to go there and race with guys like him.”

Another person who Seuss is familiar with is the track announcer at Waterford, Gary Danko.  Seuss has been a guest on Danko’s weekly radio show [The Speedway Line Report] in the past and looks forward to hearing a familiar voice on the PA system.

“With the help of Gary, I’ve come across a lot of fans from the New London area and the Speedbowl.  I’ve been on his show a few times and it’s great.  I listen all of the time on the Internet.  We’ve also got a great announcer with the Series in John Spence, so maybe they can do something together.  Hopefully, the Waterford fans will accept us and we can have a rivalry with the SKs.”

And of course, the racer in Seuss is looking for one thing above all else at Waterford and that is a great finish.
“We hope to be in that front-running pack,” said Seuss.  “The car has been running really well and we don’t see any reason why we won’t.  Hopefully, we’ll be running in the top five and have a shot at the win.”

The TVMRS event at Waterford will consist of 100 green-flag laps.  Grandstands open at 3pm on June 17th for the event.
