Seuss currently sits third in points and is the only non-NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver in the top five of the Speedweeks standings. The 18-year-old New Hampshire driver has Donny Lia and Chuck Hossfeld in his sights and Eric Beers and John Blewett, III right behind him.
Seuss has two top five finishes and a worst result of seventh in the three races which are already in the books. (Saturday night’s activities were rained out). He continued that streak by finishing fourth on Tuesday night.
“It was a lot of fun,” Seuss said of his race. “We’ve been running real well. I had some fun coming through the field. It was all good.”
Andy races in the middle of a tight pack with Donny Lia (#18), John Blewett, III (#00) and Eric Beers (#9).
Well, maybe not all good. Seuss managed to avoid quite a bit of carnage on the third night of racing. There were multiple car wrecks all around him and although he avoided any damage, he did lose ground during one of the first incidents of the night.
“They made us go to the tail and we made it back up to fourth,” said Seuss. “It was a wild race. It was a combination of a cold track and being anxious at the beginning. My closest call came when Robbie Summers blew up. I had a ton of oil on the windshield. I couldn’t see where I was going. My spotter did a great job on telling me where to go.”
Although Seuss made it to fourth in the short 30-lap event, he believes that with just a few more circuits the night could have been even better.
“If we had a few more laps, I think we could have had second.”
Florida Speedweeks continues through Saturday night.
