Mother’s Anniversary Present Helps Andy Seuss on the Track
Bobbi Seuss Did Not Get Diamonds or Pearls on Her Silver Anniversary
Any parent knows that making sacrifices is a part of raising a child.  And any racer knows that making sacrifices is sometimes necessary just to get to the track, much less to win races and championships.

In that spirit, Andy Seuss had a little extra help from his parents in winning the Florida Speedweeks Modified championship at New Smyrna Speedway last month.  That’s because of his mother Bobbi’s 25th Anniversary gift from her husband Steve.
It wasn’t diamonds, pearls or gold that got Andy a championship.  It was a set of new headers that Bobbi Seuss got for the special occasion, which is on March 28th.

“He was saving up and wanted to get her something special,” said Andy Seuss of his father, who is also his crew chief.  “Going into New Smyrna we needed a set of headers and the money wasn’t in the race fund, so it came out of the anniversary fund.  She got a set of stainless steel Tri-Y headers for her gift.”

Mom Seuss didn’t mind at all.

“I’m in a class of my own,” said Bobbi Seuss.  “Not every woman has a set of Tri-Y Headers.”

This exchange might seem a little unusual to the uninitiated, but the Seuss are racers.  Andy, his brother, his sister and their parents are used to this sort of thing.

“We were told by The One Stop Toy Shop, where we get all of our parts, that we were the only family who bought all of their Christmas presents for each other at a race shop,” said Andy.  “I got my mother a nice clipboard with stopwatches and we got my father a nice set of pit guns.  They got me some stuff for racing.  My father got a nice Brunnhoelzl jack.”

That’s the spirit that has helped to create a special bond among the family members.

“We’re definitely a racing family,” said Andy.  “When I was young, my father raced snowmobiles and he stopped that to focus on business for awhile.  He’s always said that what we have now works out well.  I like to go fast and he likes being involved in the technical side of things.  We compliment each other well.”

The #70 One Stop Toy Shop/Rockingham Boat team that Andy drives for is made up a close knit group of family and friends.  They work and they play together.  They hold cookouts at the race track.  They are all known through the pits as a fun-loving bunch and it all starts with Andy’s parents.

“My parents are behind me more than 100%,” said Andy.  “They aren’t just supportive; they put their heart and soul in it.  My mother tries to find us sponsorship, keeps us fed and takes care of the paperwork that needs to be done.  My father is my crew chief and we have great chemistry.  We’re on the same page as far as vocabulary.  When he finds out something about the racecar, he tells me and lets me know what I should feel.  Then, if we need to adjust something that he just learned
about, I’ll be able to pinpoint it and tell him.  We’re so close as both father and son and crew chief and driver.”

Andy and his family are contemplating their racing direction for this year; however, they did just compete in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour opener at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina this past weekend.
