Forgive Andy Seuss and the team of his #70 car if they looked a little ragged after Tuesday night’s Tour-Type Modified feature. They’ve only been working seemingly non-stop since having their machine completely junked in Saturday night’s feature.
They worked all day Sunday during their scheduled
off-day from on-track action, then had another crash
in Monday night’s feature. Finally Seuss was able to
escape from a feature race unscathed Tuesday after
having to put his machine back together not once, but
twice.
“We’ll go home early tonight and get a good night’s
sleep,” said Seuss, who finished an impressive ninth
Tuesday without even having time to put a decent race
setup beneath the car pre-race. “We’ll be back
tomorrow and focus more on getting the car to turn
rather than just getting it on the track. It’s been a real
battle for these guys the last couple of days, so I’m
glad that we can give them the night off. I just can’t
thank them enough for all the work they’ve done.”
Seuss and his team haven’t had to just bang out a few
body panels or replace a bumper here and there –
they’ve had to basically re-build the car twice in the
last 48 hours.
“The clip’s moved over and we had to deal with that.
The nerf bar’s been ripped off and all of the supports
have been ripped off. The fuel cell’s been lodged, the
rear end was split in half twice, the left front was torn
off twice. The sheet metal’s pretty patchworked at
this point, but I have to thank all of those sponsors on
that sheet metal, Rockingham Boats, Manchester
Urology and Summit Signs for giving us a chance to come down here and defend our championship.
“It’s going to be hard from this point out to chase points and defend, but we’re definitely chasing wins at this point.”
