Andy Gets Season Rolling at Speedweeks
Halfway Through the Week, #70 Team Sees Promising Results
The #70 race team of Andy Seuss has rebuilt the team’s tried and true Troyer car, after it was involved in a hard wreck last fall at Thompson, and headed down south to New Smyrna Speedway. The team affectionately refers to the car as “Veronica”.

The team is excited to race again at New Smyrna with the same car that brought them the 2006 Speedweeks Championship.

“Racing at New Smyrna is good,” said Seuss.  “The track is tough because there is so much grip. It is very fast. It is very hard to get up on som body because there is so much bite.”

During the opening night of racing Andy held on to the race car as one of his rear tires went flat.

“We struggled with it a little bit. But that is just our car.  Fourth place was good but we could have been better.”

After a fourth place finish on the first night, the Seuss race team returned to the track the second night and had an ill handling car on the track. The team took advantage of the bad situation to turn it around to

their advantage. They brought their car in several times and tried several changes. With each change they were able to rule out one of the many potential problems. They finished the second race in the series in twelfth position.

On Sunday, their day off, the Seuss race team returned to the track to practice and work on the car some more.

“We made some changes,” said Seuss on Monday.  “We spent yesterday at the track preparing the car and changing the setup. We are looking forward to tonight (Monday, February 11th) to see if we can get a little more maneuverable so I can get up under people and start passing.”

We asked Andy how was racing this year at New Smyrna with the veteran drivers like Eric Beers, Charlie Pasteryak and Ted Christopher.

“I think that other racers do not have to worry about me anymore. We (race team) have gotten a little more respect and at the same time those are the guys that you want to race.   These guys are the best racing down here and those are the ones that you just want to work on racing. That is how you are going to get better yourself.

Heading to the track on Monday morning Andy expressed his thoughts: “I am optimistic heading to the track today and hopefully we are in the right direction with the adjustments.”

The changes the team brought them a finish that just broke into the top ten. It was not quite what the team was hoping for but there are five more nights of racing for the Seuss racing team to get to the front of the pack.

Well, four nights of racing are left now.  Tuesday’s events were completely rained out.
