Seuss Shows Strength at Caraway With Fourth-Place Finish
Saturday Event Prepares Riggs Racing Driver for Final Southern Mod Tour Event
Andy Seuss and the #47 Advance Auto Parts Modified team headed to Caraway Speedway (NC) for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event with the hopes of landing the car in victory lane after having strong runs at the track all throughout the season.  Although a change to the car to make it better backfired, Seuss was able to wheel his car to a fourth-place finish, adding to the multiple top-five finishes he has had at the North Carolina facility this season.
Weather was a factor once again at Caraway.  Seuss and the Riggs Racing team dodged the rain drops and worked on the car to get it better for the race.

"It rained on and off, so we didn't spend a whole lot of time chasing the track during practice," explained Seuss.  "We have had a good car the last few times we have been there.  We wanted to try one thing to try and improve the forward bite, so we left the car the way it was except for that one change."

Seuss started the race from the ninth spot, moving up to the top five before the end of the event, but the change didn't quite do what they wanted it to for the run to the checkered flag.

"The change didn't pay off," said Seuss.  "It was just too tight for qualifying as well as the race.  It never loosened up like we thought it would.  Also it was hard to pass at the track, mainly because of the rain washing away the rubber.  All in all it was good.  We were a little bit off, but any day you can be a little bit off and come home with a top five, we are happy with it."
With one stop left on the 2008 Whelen Southern Modified Tour left and the fact that the race is right back at the same facility, Seuss used what the team learned over the weekend to apply it to the final event of the year.

"We learned we have to go back (to the way the car was before).  The car was plenty capable of winning when we finished third and we had our issue with LW (Miller) that messed up the car.  Before that we were on our way to a real solid runner-up finish if not a win and our oil line fell off, so overall the car has been good."

The final race of the 2008 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will take place on Saturday, October 4th at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, North Carolina.
