Andy Seuss Like the Energizer Bunny Keeps on Running
The #70 TVMRS car came to the Open Wheeled Modified show at Seekonk with a dream of a top-five finish, maybe even a win. Just as the weather does, that dream changed when the team had an ill handling car on the track and went from a 15th place start to 19th place finish in the end. Dealing with an older car that has been in severe accidents may be plaguing the team.
“Similar issues with the car occurred to what happened at Lee,” said Seuss. “We thought we had the bugs out of the car but we might just be beating our heads against the wall with this car. This is the car that we wrecked pretty bad at Thompson that everybody said we would be crazy to try to fix and maybe we were crazy to try to fix it.”
The car isn’t always a problem though. It runs well when it races at one of Seuss’s home tracks in Epping, NH though which baffles the #70 team to no end. “Obviously it runs good at Star as we have shown at the two All-Star races there, but that is the only place that we seem to get a hold of it (the car).”
So rather than give up, the team will take Veronica (their car) home as try to figure out the puzzle again one more time if they can. “Right now we are going to go back home, take the car all apart and see if we can’t find something wrong. If not we might just have to scrap what has been mine favorite car, it has been a good one to us.”

“This car is going on twelve years old. It has been good but is also has been through its share of very hard wrecks. We built another car that we have been running on the bigger tracks and that one has been real good to us and showing a lot of potential so that may become the primary car.
“It is frustrating to get the results that we have. Last week we returned to Lee, a place where I have won and had podium finishes at many times. This place is another that I have won and done a lot at. In this race in particular, I have done well. It is very frustrating to come out here and struggle the way that we have.”
Until the team can get back on track and compete the way that they would like to, Andy just sits back in the wings and watches. “I would have liked to be up there racing Matt (Hirschman) for the win but it was just not meant to be. We just have to get back on our game to compete with people that are at the level that he is on.”
When Is It Time to Retire the One That You Love?
As far as holding the $10,000 check, Andy will continue to work to get there.
“Sure would have been nice to win the $10,000. But we will just continue racing and try to win each race we go to.”
On Saturday night, Seuss and his team took their newer racecar to Oxford Plains Speedway (ME) to compete with the True Value Modified Racing Series. They hoped to turn around their luck, but instead they encountered handling problems with the #70.
“We had a shock travel issue,” said Seuss. “The car ran really well at Loudon, so we decided at the last minute to go to Oxford. We weren’t planning on that race, but we wanted to go there and change our luck. In the race, the shock problem came up and we struggled. But the good news is that we have solved the problem now and we’re ready to go to All-Star Speedway this week.”
Seuss was credited with a finish of 14th at Oxford.
The next race for Seuss at the #70 team will take place at All-Star Speedway on Saturday night, July 26th.
