Rough Day at Bowman Gray Stadium Doesn’t Deflate Andy Seuss
Advance Auto Parts Weekend Provided Many Smiles for Seuss and the Fans
To say that Bowman Gray Stadium (NC) wasn’t too kind to Andy Seuss on the track is a pretty big understatement.  The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour “Advance Auto Parts 199” ate up the #47 machine and spit it out.  But, despite the 14th-place finish, Seuss still managed a smile on his face after a great learning experience on track and a fun meet-and-greet with the fans.
After qualifying seventh and starting eighth due to the redraw, the race wasn’t too kind to Seuss, who was caught on the outside line.  After a yellow flag bunched up the field, Seuss was a victim of a multi-car incident that damaged his car.

“It just felt like there was a freight-train pushing me into turn one,” said Seuss.  “I had em’ locked up, but once you get in the marbles you are pretty much done.  I guess the gentleman behind me had some help as well and he got caught up in it.  Zack Brewer apologized and told me he had help from LW (Miller).  That’s racin’ at the Stadium.  It’s kind of crazy to be racing that hard that early on.  Some people just don’t get it.  It’s too small to be doing that stuff early on and with double-file restarts I don’t know where they thought they were going.  It’s unfortunate because all of us got junk racecars because of it.”

After a stint in the pits for repair, Seuss managed to limp around to finish 14th, multiple laps down to the field.  Instead of going to the trailer after the race and hiding though, Seuss signed autographs for the fans, which helped lift his spirits after the race.

“I love this Advance Auto Parts weekend,” said Seuss.  “We do a lot of media and special things for the Advance stores and the race fans here.  I got to sign a ton of autographs.  It was a great opportunity to meet so many race fans.  I don’t get to come here a lot and it was just neat to come here and interact with people who come every week and talk about the Stadium with them.”

While many of the drivers will dread coming back to the Stadium next year, after an up-and-down weekend, Seuss is ready to come back and get revenge at the track known as the “Madhouse.”

“Knowing we came here and had a great car and one capable to win the race was great. The highlight of the weekend was getting the car to that point and knowing we had a car to beat.  I am finally looking forward to coming back to this place.”

Seuss currently sits second in the 2009 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour points chase, 66 points behind George Brunnhoelzl III.

The next race for Seuss and the #47 Advance Auto Parts Modified is the August 19th race at Bristol Motor Speedway (TN).
