Andy Seuss and his #47 NASCAR Tour-Type Modified team headed to the Concord Motorsport Park (NC) for his first North South Shootout since 2006 this past weekend. Unfortunately, his results mirrored those of his last outing at the event where he finished 25th in 2006, as he came home in 26th place this year after being collected in an altercation early in the race.
“We dodged the first big wreck,” explained Seuss. “And then we got part of the second one so I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. It’s kind of unfortunate. I don’t really have a lot of good luck at this race but we had a good car and things were looking good up until then.”
Although Seuss didn’t get the results he wanted from his qualifying run, he was still confident that they would have a strong car for the feature.
“We really missed it in qualifying,” said Seuss. “The time trial really set us back. We came from seventh to get in the heat race to fourth. We really had a good car but we just got a little too free. We tightened it up for the night and it was awesome.”
Once Seuss and his team got their car back together after they suffered damage, he hit the track again in hopes of salvaging a finish, unfortunately that’s when they realized the true extent of the damage.
“The guys worked really hard,” said Seuss. “We got out back out there without losing too many laps. But when I drove it back to the pits there wasn’t enough water in the engine, because the radiator was blown. That caused issues.
“It’s tough but we’ll take it home, take it apart and see what we can do,” commented Seuss. “We’re probably over for the year but we’ll be back in February in Florida.”
