The North South Shootout at Concord Speedway (NC) is supposed to be a race where it is the North vs. the South in Modified competition. But Andy Seuss has given the race a slightly different meaning this year. For him, it will be the North and the South - as Seuss will compete in the race with help from both his New Hampshire-based Stuart's Automotive / Rockingham Boat team and the Virginia-based Advance Auto Parts Riggs Racing team that he drives for on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
Seuss will drive one of his Northern Modifieds, with the #47 of Riggs Racing on it for this event.
“It's going to be a combination effort between our North and South teams,” said Seuss. “The Riggs team couldn't go to the whole weekend. They have things that they need to do on Friday, but will be there on Saturday to help. So we are bringing the Northern car and team down for this race.”
Seuss has a history of strong runs at Concord, but has often been bit by bad luck at the track - like when he dropped out of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour season opener there with engine problems.
“I ran well there at the beginning of the year and had engine issues. We know how to get around there and I love the track. I just hadn't had great finishes there yet.”
