Stafford Motor Speedway (CT) has never traditionally been a good track for Andy Seuss and his #70 Stuart's Automotive/Rockingham Boat Modified team. Never a team to give up easily though, they've kept hard at work trying to find a quick set-up for the tricky Connecticut track.
Based on their performance in the recent Spring Sizzler NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Stafford, they are on the right track - even if the box score doesn't reflect that.
Seuss was quick in opening practice for the race and backed that up with a solid qualifying effort of 17th. The run might have been much better except for the fact that Seuss spun on his second of two qualifying laps. Rain then delayed the start of the event nearly one week to Saturday afternoon.
When the race started, Seuss was quick. But he exited the event early with a transmission problem and was credited with a finish of 26th.
“It was just one of those deals,” said Seuss of the race. “We were happy with the car. We were a half second quicker than we've ever been here before. The team did their homework over the winter and since we don't have a large notebook to draw from, it took some work to get the car where we needed it to be. This weekend, the car wasn't perfect but it was really good. It kept getting better too. We were able to keep the #3 (Ryan Preece), the #4 (Bobby Santos, III) and the #93 (Rowan Pennink) in our sights. It's just a shame that we weren't able to make it to the finish.”
